Our research is in Scientific Reports

Our latest publication, “Sequential monitoring and control of a silicon photonic coherent beam adder and analyzer“, is now published as an open-access article on Nature Scientific Reports.
This work was developed through close collaboration between our PhD candidate, Samuele De Gaetano, and Dr. Francesco Zanetto.
In this paper, we demonstrate a silicon photonic chip capable of combining and analyzing multiple optical signals in real time, thanks to an integrated control strategy.

In simple terms:

  • we built a programmable photonic circuit based on Mach–Zehnder interferometers
  • we leveraged monolithically integrated electronics to monitor and control the system efficiently
  • we showed its potential for both communication and sensing applications

This work is the result of a close collaboration between the Photonic Devices Group at the Politecnico di Milano and the i3N Lab – Innovative Integrated Instrumentation for Nanoscience, combining expertise in photonics and electronics on a single technological platform.
